If you look around, it’s clear to see. Dallas is in the middle of a building boom.
We’ve got a need for it. If tenancy rates are anything–and in the world of real estate they are everything–this fervor will not die down anytime soon.
More than a dozen new projects were planned in 2015 in the Uptown and just north of Downtown alone to cover our needs.
So here are the top ten that will either break ground or be completed this–or maybe next–year.
Completed: Cesar Pelli’s shiny new Uptown wing.
The iconic McKinney and Olive tower aspires to provide space for upscale retail and offices and is the first commercial building in Dallas to be designed by an internationally acclaimed architect since the 1980’s.
You’ll see this new edifice completed in August 2016 as it is overseen by Crescent Real Estate. It aims to boast a rooftop garden with the Office of James Burnett, the team responsible for what you see at Klyde Warren Park, serving as the landscape architect.

The 2000 Ross project is huge. It’s so huge that it will be one of the biggest projects a firm as undertaken in Dallas in over a decade.
JP Morgan Asset Management will likely complete a good deal of construction this year on the mixed-use project so that it is ready to open its first phase in the second-half of 2017.
Stream Realty Partners has been hired to develop this ambitious undertaking, which includes 350 apartments, a 227-room hotel and over 30,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

Bleu Ciel Living, a 33-story luxury tower constructed on the edge of a bluff at the end of North Harwood Street, plans to be fully open in late 2016, or early 2017.
It sits on the highest vantage point the center of the city as to offer and will boast spectacular views. It offers 158 new units in a tight condo market, featuring two swimming pools, gardens, a public area and proximity to the Katy Trail.
Breaking Ground: A new hotel shaped kind of like a V.
Construction is planned for a new 200 room Virgin Hotel that will grace the Design District early this spring by Dallas Dunhill Partners in conjunction with several other developers.
It sadly won’t be ready for your stay until 2018, so hold your reservations.

Another high-rise apartment building project is planned for Uptown, overseen by Trammell Crow Residential and is designed by GDA Architects of Dallas.
It’s expected to break ground this summer and will offer 159 units on Carlisle St. near Cedar Springs Rd.
It plans to offer larger square footage and hopes to attract the mature renter.

The Rolex Luxury Tower is a project that has broken ground in the Uptown district. It uses gradually rotating plates to incorporate a garden on every single planned level and is currently overseen by Harwood International. Rolex and Harwood worked jointly on an original tower built in the 1980’s that will be adjacent to the new structure.
The new tower is meant to be a fusion of architecture and nature.
Kuma has also employed landscape designer Sadafumi Uchiyama to ensure that each level has an excellently planned garden with stone rampart walls and waterfalls.

KDC is set to begin construction on an office project that is part of a $200 million mixed-use development near Love Field in the next 90 days. BOKA Powell architects are overseeing the design and will be part of Highridge Partners’ 37-acre total West Love development.
Completed: A Love Field hotel expected to open its doors late this year.
But office space isn’t the only priority for mixed-use development in the Mockingbird area. Love Field’s traffic has been up quite a bit since caps were lifted on the airport. The Aloft-Element hotel project is speculated to open late this year.
