Dining on a budget is tough, and when you only have $10 to spare, it can be a hunger nightmare. Here’s a list of the most satisfying and fulfilling meals in Dallas to help you battle hunger and give your wallet a break.
1. Griff’s Hamburgers
Griff’s is first on the list, and for a little under $10 you can get a tasty double cheeseburger combo including crisp golden fries and a large drink. Griff’s is an Oak Cliff staple and has been creating greasy goodness in a bun since the Kennedy era. This is a must stop for any budgeter with a monstrous appetite.
2. The Original Chicken-n-Rice
At The Original Chicken-n-Rice you can satisfy your chicken and Chinese food craving with their delicious 8-piece chicken finger meal that includes sauce, rice, egg roll and a drink for just under $8. During the week this joint boasts daily specials with full meals under $6 that are sure to fill you up. There are several Original Chicken-n-Rice locations around DFW to get your grub on.
3. Henk’s Deli
If breakfast is what you are searching for you, can enjoy a taste of Europe at Henk’s European Deli. The portions at Henk’s are larger than Texas and you can add on meats and pancakes to any meal for under $4. The cream of the crop is their 3-egg omelets, all served with your choice of hash browns or grits and biscuits or toast none of which are over $8!
4. Angelo’s Spaghetti & Pizza House
Pasta is must have when dining on a dollar and Angelo’s is the spot to be for a taste of New York in the 60s. This restaurant’s decor makes you feel like a wise guy but their food will have you begging for more. Angelo’s spaghetti is definitely their specialty and for $9 and some change you can choose your noodles, sauce and three toppings.
Ojeda’s is next on the list with yummy margaritas and endless chips and salsa to aid in your hunger battle. For $10 you can have your fill of two beef or cheese enchiladas and a side of rice and beans. Ojeda’s has several locations around DFW and this place is always packed so make sure and get there before the rush!

This list wouldn’t be complete wit out a trip to Norma’s Cafe. For $9.99 you can dive into their eNORMAus chicken fried steak plate. This dish consists of a double dipped thick chicken fried steak smothered in gravy served with three veggie sides, rolls and cornbread. If this meal doesn’t fill you up for at least two days, you’re doing it wrong.
7. Cafe Gecko
Cafe Gecko is my next pick; this is a hole in the wall with daily drink specials and an amazing menu. For $7.50 you can grab a plate of their chicken, spinach and mushroom quesadillas and for an few couple of dollars, add a refreshing adult beverage. This place has golden tee in the back and some of the best tunes played by the very attentive bartenders.
8. Cesar’s Tacos
I couldn’t leave a taqueria out of the list and Cesar’s Tacos is a clear winner. There are so many meals under $10, it was hard to decide on the most satisfying meal. I was able to narrow it down to two large plates. For $6.99 you are served a burrito the size of an adult forearm with a side of beans and rice, of course. If fajitas are more your thing you can dish out $7.99 for a large plate of chicken fajitas served with beans, rice, lettuce, onion, tomatoes and tortillas. Cesar’s also has an array of Mexican sodas and tons of taco options, a must when dining in a hurry.
9. Lover’s Pizzas & Pasta
Lover’s Pizzas & Pasta will make you fall in love with Chicken. Coming in at a little under $10 is their Chicken Parmigiana served with a house salad and bread for dipping. This meal is one of the most satisfying I have had and will leave you with leftovers for days. If you really want to make that dollar stretch, I recommend dining during lunch and making two meals out of one chicken.
10. Fadi’s Mediterranean Grill

Without Arabic restaurants in the United States, we will quickly feel homesick. لولا وجود المطاعم العربية في أمريكا بنشتاق لوطنا بشكل سريع.. على الأقل هالمطاعم تعيشك جو بلادك.. ..! ——–//——- #arabian_food #USA #Texas #dallas #Denton #UNT #campus #Oman #home #عمان #عماني #Omani #happy
Ending the list is a taste of the Middle East with Fadi’s Mediterranean Grill. Fadi’s proves that dining on a budget doesn’t always have to be pasta or tacos. Fadi’s beef or lamb kabob wrap is a little under $7 and is sure to tickle your taste buds with a sweet and savory delight. On a side note — for a couple extra bucks you can make it a combo meal with fries and a drink!
