Dallas-- There are some big changes on the horizon for Fair Park. In fact. just last week the Dallas parks board voted 9-5 to privatize the park all in hopes to making it a more year-round destination; the city council gets the final say. For the surrounding area, bringing in new business and jobs is the top priority.
“As we are looking to re-branding Fair Park, we know it's important to have good business here on the front of Fair Park as well," Dallas City Council Woman Tiffinni Young said.
“Super excited to build a Golden Chick here in Fair Park," Christopher Aslam said. "This is something that`s been in the works for some time.”
Aslam’s family has lived near Fair Park for a for a long time. He says when he built his first fast food joint near Fair Park eight years ago, he saw more opportunity for this area to really be home grown.
“When I first built the Jack In The Box eight years ago, this land that was here and this entire strip that goes down the street was empty," he said. "The growth has been incredible and with everything that's going on with fair park we expect a lot of great things to come,” Aslam said
Some of those great things include bringing in more jobs. along with his other restaurant, Aslam has employed more 80 people.
“I lived here all my life, I've seen it just expand through the years and I never thought we would get all of these different places,” said Golden Chick employee Micaela Garrett.
