ATHENS, Ga.--You wanna keep your relationship in good shape? According to a study from the University of Georgia, two little words can help -- a bunch.
Got any idea what they are?
Lots of people might think they're, "I'm sorry."
Well, that sounds like a good choice, 'cause when couples get in a fight -- and let's face it, we all disagree sometimes -- you gotta find a way to defuse the situation. "I'm sorry," does the trick.
Other people think the two words to save your relationship might be, "you're right."
But according to the study, the real magic words are -- "Thank you."
Yep, a simple "thank you" goes a long way.
The study's author says, "even if a couple is experiencing distress and difficulty in other areas, gratitude in the relationship can help promote positive marital outcomes."
That's a long way of saying it just feels nice when someone says, "thank you."
