MUKILTEO, WA --  At your typical house party, people may listen to music, dance, or chat the night away. But that wasn't what happened in suburban Seattle where a group of about 15 to 20 teens were hanging out.

"My granddaughter called us about twenty minutes after midnight and said she was hiding - that there'd been a shooting and two of her friends were shot and she was shot at. And she ran away and is hiding across the street from where the shooting was,” says Susan Gemmer, grandmother of a witness.

“Officers responded to the 1000 block of Chennault beach report of gunshots upon arrivals they discovered three fatally injured subjects.  One subject sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to Harborview hospital, “says Officer Myron Travis, Crime Prevention Division for the city of Mukilteo.

Yeah, three dead and one other injured.

Witnesses say the gunman drove off after the shooting but was eventually found and taken into custody at about two in the morning. Police have not officially released his identity yet.

"Officers in Lewis County who while out on patrol identified a vehicle matching that description southbound on I-5 and they conducted a traffic stop in an area of mile post 75. That person is currently in custody and he will be interviewed later."

The motive for the shooting isn't clear but one thing is: these pointless shootings must stop.
