This Saturday is Shop Small Saturday, where we get to show love to businesses in our neighborhood.  And nobody supports local businesses better than AT&T. That's where we headed to get the scoop!

Wait. What exactly is Small Business Saturday?

"Small Business Saturday is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  This year, it's November 28th.  Gives us an opportunity to shop local, shop the small businesses in our neighborhoods.  These are our friends and neighbors.  It gives us a chance to support them and support what they do for a living," AT&T Small Business Marketing VP Tom Hughes said.

John Hossley owns one of those stores, The Neighborhood. "Well, my wife and I started this business about three and a half years ago. We were in interior design and architecture background, so we wanted to jump into something that was similar -- so we decided to open a furniture store/art gallery/home accessories," Hossley said.

Small Business Saturday educates communities on putting money back into the local economy while helping people like Hossley get the word out. "Gives us small businesses a chance to compete with everybody else," he said.

Big business technology helps Hossley run his small business. "Our cell phones, of course. Those are most important. The phones here at the store and, of course, our U-verse Internet.  Very important to run the business," Hossley said.

In addition to cool home accessories and unique items Hossley says you can't find everywhere else, the store sells a lot of things from local artists. "That's why it's called The Neighborhood," Hossley said.

And AT&T is all in favor of supporting stores like The Neighborhood. "We really want these small businesses to thrive and be successful," Hughes said. At AT&T, we want to be their trusted expert. We want these customers to focus on their business and we'll focus on their technology needs.  We know when we do that, they'll be successful and following their passion."
