DALLAS -- Alternative rock music had a home in Dallas-Fort Worth at 102.1 The Edge, but after nearly 30 years on the air, iHeartMedia has pulled the plug.

What was once known as The Edge will now be Star 102.1, the new home of mainstream adult contemporary for DFW.

The new station is kicking off with commercial free, around the clock Christmas music.

After the holidays, Star plans to play today's hits mixed with some Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Alternative music that you used to hear on The Edge has moved over to 97.1, The Eagle.
