ARLINGTON, TX — Josh Hamilton and the Rangers are totally getting back together.

Things might be awkward after the pairs stormy breakup: remember when Hamilton said DFW “wasn’t a true baseball town.”

“I’ve said some dumb things,” Hamilton explained during his press conference. “But I want the fans to know I’m going to give you everything I’ve got.”

Okay, circumstances change, right?

Apparently, the L.A. Angels really want to get rid of Hamilton, after he admitted to relapsing with drugs and alcohol during the off-season. Hamilton had previously relapsed in 2009 and 2012 when he was with the Rangers

“I need baseball,” Hamilton said. “The reason I’m making changes in my life is I want to be okay after baseball is over.”

Reportedly the Angels are going to eat $68M of Hamilton’s contract. The Rangers would only have to pay $6M over the next three years; talk about a marriage of convenience.

“After I saw the kind of deal that they got and realized just how bad our outfield is right now. It’s worth taking a shot,” Rangers fan Pat Downey said.

But, not all Rangers fans are ready to forgive and forget.

“There a reason why the angels are giving him away,” fan Gail Confrad added. “He’s such a disruptive presence that they just want him out of there.”

Rangers fans won’t get a chance to welcome Hamilton back on the diamond with cheers or jeers just yet. He remains on the 15 day DL from off-season shoulder surgery.
