DALLAS — With these new laws taking effect Tuesday, it’s interesting to point out a couple of them have to do with pot.

Clinical cannabis users are riding high with news that medical marijuana laws in Texas are loosening up. Good news for those suffering from epilepsy whose effects might be alleviated by using cannabis.

On the flip side, Texas is strengthening restrictions on the synthetic stuff. Twenty-six chemical combinations of synthetic cannabinoids will be banned after reports of deaths caused from the fake pot tripled this year.

Also, senate bill 200 allows qualifying ex-drug felons to now receive federal food stamp assistance.
