IRVING, TX — Have you heard about the high school kid from Irving who was arrested for bringing a clock to school on Monday?

Yeah, when one of Ahmed Mohamed’s teachers saw the homemade clock, they thought it was a bomb. They called the cops and the teen was arrested.

Irving ISD and the cops say they were just acting cautiously with a suspicious-looking device and that they would have acted the same way if Ahmed wasn’t Muslim.

But should the cops have been called in the first place? When you look at the clock, there’s an LCD screen, a couple of circuit boards and a battery. You do realize a bomb needs explosives to blow up, right?

Well, this story is blowing up on social media with the hashtag #IStandWithAhmed trending.

President Obama tweeted, “Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It’s what makes America great.”

Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook wants to meet him too. He posted,  “The skill and ambition to build something cool should lead to applause, not arrest.”
