DURHAM, NC – A noose was seen hanging from a tree near the student union at Duke University and university officials say a student has fessed up to the hateful act. The student hasn’t been identified, but officials say the person is no longer on Duke’s campus and will face disciplinary review.

“The student will be subject to Duke’s student conduct process,” said Michael J. Schoenfeld, Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations at Duke. “The university continues to review the circumstances of the incident to determine if additional individuals were involved.”
