AMITE CITY, LA -- Spring time is here and you know what that means graduation season. Thousands of students from all over are ready to walk across that stage and into the next chapter of their lives. But walking across the stage on graduation day isn't happening for some, simply because of how they look!
Our first example: Andrew Jones, a high school student from Louisiana. Not only was Andrew a star athlete but he was the valedictorian of his class! There was only one problem, Andrew had a beard. Yeah, his high school refused to let Andrew walk across the stage because of his facial hair.
It doesn't stop there!
A similar situation happened in Illinois, where Megan Howerton was also denied the walk. Not because of facial hair but because she chose to wear her dress blues and not a cap and gown.
You see, Megan is a Marine Corps Private. She's also a top-notch student and finished up school early so she could start her career as a Marine.
So what's the deal with these strict graduation dress codes? Maybe, in these cases, it’s the administrators that need to be taught a lesson or two.
