Dallas, TX — Call it a reality show lover’s fantasy line-up: some of TV’s most popular performers dipped and danced their way into Big D on Saturday night.
“Basically, it’s a live theater show composed of dancers from So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, and two amazing singers from American Idol,” dancer Randi Strong explained.
Ballroom with a Twist is a high-energy, sequin-filled show that features moves from Samba to headspins. “Dancers have become household names and they come to these shows to cheer for you, and that has never happened,” Strong said of her performances.
Jenna Johnson and Randi Strong – dancing alumni from So You Think You Can Dance –joined the cast of familiar faces like Maks Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff from Dancing with the Stars.
“The audience definitely sets the vibe for your show,” Johnson said. “I mean, you come out as a dancer with lots of energy and wanting to impress them, and when they react with big applause, or they’re cheering and screaming your name, it’s such an adrenaline rush and it gets you motivated for your next number coming up.”
The show made its one-night stop at Music Hall at Fair Park on Saturday, before an enthusiastic crowd. The stars dazzled in their featured performances. Tony Dovolani and Cheryl Burke, of Dancing with the Stars, teamed-up and wowed the audience with their romantic Rumba. While Maks and Karina turned up the heat and excited the audience with their exquisite execution of the fiery Paso Doble.
The Dancing stars even took time to interact with the crowd, fielded questions from star-struck fans, and even held an impromptu dance lesson for the audience. Maks generated cheers and screams of excitement, when he came off stage and walked through the theater aisles.
For fans of the show and dance in general, Ballroom with a Twist did not disappoint.
