ARLINGTON - We may be in the dead of winter, but the boys of summer are grabbing headlines with good -- and bad -- news.

First the good: The Rangers announced that there will be no increase in individual ticket prices this upcoming season. Another bit of good news is that the schedule for the upcoming season has been released and we can think of at least one team that's definitely circled on the calendar.

The Rangers first play Toronto May 2, but you won't get your chance to boo Jose Bautista in person until the home game the following week on Friday the 13. Elvis Andrus, who had two crucial errors in a pivotal seventh inning in Game 5 of the series, says he won’t let that moment define him. "I always get stronger off any experience in my career and especially that one, I know I’m going to be stronger mentally and physically," he said.

Now, unfortunately, onto the bad news. Rangers ace Yu Darvish has been in the news the last couple of days because of his brother's alleged involvement in an illegal gambling ring in Japan.

The MLB is currently investigating the matter, but Yu has already released a statement removing himself from the situation. “I am not and have never been involved with gambling activities," Darvish said.

Even with the current heat on Yu, the Rangers were focused on the upcoming season at Wednesday's mini-camp in Southlake. New Rangers pitching coach Doug Brocail is already impressed with the three time all-star. "Yu might have some of the best mechanics in the game. We're not going to have him from the get go but if we're going to go backwards, we want them to be little setbacks, not major step backs."

And now even more good news; We're less than a month away from pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training.
