HEMPSTEAD, TX — New information is emerging about the mysterious death of Sandra Bland. Now her mental health is the latest thing being debated.

The Waller County Sheriff claims when Sandra was being housed in the county jail, she told a jailer she had attempted suicide before (that can be seen on page three of the documents that you can click below).

A video posted on Sandra’s Facebook page even shows the 28-year-old woman openly talking about her struggles with depression. Although the family acknowledges Sandra’s issues, they claim her mental health has nothing to do with the way she was treated during her traffic stop.

There is now a push to get Sheriff R. Glen Smith fired immediately. Residents gathered Wednesday morning at the Waller County courthouse to voice their concerns.

Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis was also mentioned in discussions. He was accused of being unfair to minorities in the past, and some believe he is unfit to handle the Bland case.
