CHANDLER, AZ — An Arizona woman is suing two police officers after she says they illegally entered her home and handcuffed her while she was naked. Her daughter shot video of the intense encounter.
“Don’t touch me! Don’t touch me,” you can hear Esmeralda Rossi scream in the video while only wearing a towel.
According to WTVR, Rossi was in the shower when her 15-year-old daughter ran in to tell her officers were at the door. Rossi grabbed her towel and raced to the door where she was questioned about a domestic situation with her estranged husband.
Rossi says she had a bad feeling from the start.
“I said, ‘You know what, you’re making me very uncomfortable. I’m gonna get my daughter to record what’s happening because something’s not right here.’ So I close the door, I take about five to six steps into my living room and I hear the door open and boots coming after me,” she explained.
That’s when the video shows Officer Doug Rose handcuffing Rossi, as she screams and her towel drops.
The officer eventually unhandcuffs her and leaves. She was never arrested. Rossi has since hired an attorney and said she plans to sue the city.
“They have an immense power that is given to them with that power comes great responsibility. The problem here is they used that power in a negative way,” Rossi’s attorney Richard Cruz said.
WTVR reports that before word of the alleged misbehavior made it to the officer’s supervisors, Rose retired from the force.
