DALLAS — It’s Presidents Day, which for most Americans means just one thing — sales! Yeah, George and Abe’s combo birthday has turned into February’s Black Friday.
But a few brave souls bypassed the malls and took on freezing temps to take in Dallas’ most famous presidential landmark: Dealey Plaza. Even though, most didn’t know what day it was.
“I honestly did not realize it was Presidents Day,” said John Bennett who was visiting from Bentonville, Arkansas. “I’m just traveling home, but I guess that makes it kind of cool.”
Yeah, the crowds were definitely bigger at the shopping centers, but a few folks knew the importance of Dealey Plaza.
“I’ve never been to Dallas and I’m here on business. Today’s my last day, so I thought one of the things you’ve got to see is this site because of its historical significance,” said Bennett.
Yep, way more important than whatever is on those sales racks.
So enjoy that new mattress or that new pair of jeans, but remember it’s all thanks to the 44 guys crazy enough to run this country.
