MOSCOW, RUSSIA — The Russians announced they’ll be making a return to the moon. The last time anyone stepped foot on the moon was 40 years ago.

That is, unless you believe in aliens!

The Russian’s space agency, Roscosmos, is looking to set up a high-tech lunar base to better explore the planet and build a colony. The agency says it will launch a robotic spacecraft, appropriately named Luna 25, to the moon’s south pole in 2024.

Luna 25 will host eight cameras to help the spacecraft get around and take pictures.

You may be asking yourself, what about the Americans?! Well, we’ve got our sights sets on Mars! Cause who wants to go back to where they’ve been? The moon is soooo 1972.

In the meantime, construction on Luna 25 is currently underway. Looks like this is one space race that has different finish lines.
