This chihuahua mix had a serious case of red eyes before Dallas Pets Alive! found him. Now, he’s happy as a clam.
You might remember Fritz Fernandez. When Dallas Pets Alive! got had a serious case of red eyes, but he wasn’t doing anything illegal.
“He had what we call cherry eyes,” says Leslie Sans, Executive Director of Dallas Pets Alive! “He had two beads that look like cherries in both of his eyes.”
With a little snip-snip, the cherry eyes were gone and Fritz was good to go.
“Now you can see with a little surgery, completely and totally adorable, you would never know that he had cherry eyes,” says Sans.
That’s the last we heard, until we found out that Fritz has finally been adopted.
“I was actually getting my hair cut and I had been thinking about getting a second dog,” says Janice Cordray. “I walked under the tent on that hot day and I saw him fell in love with him.”
Fritz’s bubbly personality was a perfect match for his new “furr-ever” home.
“He’s opened up more and he’s happier and spritzer than ever,” she says.
Janice Cordray gave Fritz a new leash on life, and he’s repaid the favor by teacher her some life lessons.
“I learn through my pets how to be more kind and compassionate towards people,” she says. “You know he’s helped me meet new people, I’m pretty outgoing but my dog is more outgoing then I am.”
Great to see that Mr. Fernandez has gone from on the fritz… to full of spritz.
