DALLAS — When Grace Kelly’s owners gave her up at the shelter, it was pretty clear they had stopped trying to take care of her.

“She was about five years old, very malnourished,” says Haley Edman, marketing director for Dallas Pets Alive! “I would say she was 30 pounds underweight.”

That meant Grace Kelly was really struggling to keep up appearances. It didn’t help her chances of breaking out that she was painfully shy.

“She was at Dallas Animal Services for three weeks, which means they kept her longer than they normally keep a dog her size,” says Edman.

But luckily, Dallas Pets Alive! busted her out of the shelter and now the St. Bernard beauty has come out of her shell, just in time for Fat Tuesday.

“After she started feeling a little bit better, she put on some more weight,” says Edman. “She plays with her foster siblings, both dogs and children.”

Don’t let her weight fool you. She’s as cuddly as a dog 1/3 her size.

“Grace Kelley lives up to her glamorous name. She is graceful she is sweet. She would be great with any family,” says Edman.

Even though she loves to dance with the second line, Miss Kelly knows all the proper etiquette.

“She knows how to sit, stay, shake, give kisses. So she comes pretty much pre-trained,” says Edman.

Now you can make Grace Kelley Queen of the Krewe of Ruff Life and laissez les bon temps rouler — Let the good times roll!
