DALLAS — Kensington was left at Dallas Animal Services by her owner… with a big surprise in her belly.
“Come to find out the sweet pup, she was actually pregnant,” says Leslie Sans, Executive Director of Dallas Pets Alive!
The shelter is no place to give birth and none of Kensington’s puppies made it through the night.
“They somehow managed to get on the cold floor out of their blanket,” says Sans. “They passed away overnight.”
Things were going from bad to worse for Kensington, but she made friends at the shelter.
“The staff at DAS fell in love with her and they gave her two months in the shelter which is completely unheard of,” says Sans.
Despite her popularity, time was running out. She just couldn’t win the heart of someone looking to adopt. That’s when Dallas Pets Alive! stepped up and found Kensington a foster family.
“Right now she gets to sleep in bed with her fosters,” says Sans. “They tell us that she just wants to be next to them all night.”
Kensington may be getting plenty of cuddle time now, but she wants a commitment.
“Kensington would love a home that has a very large backyard so she can run and play,” says Sans. “Her personality is a great mix of energy yet she wants to lounge with you in bed.”
