DALLAS — When Cooper showed up at the shelter, everyone was sure his owners would soon be on their way to pick him up.

“He had a t-shirt on. We were like ‘oh my goodness, this dog obviously has an owner’ because someone had to have put the t-shirt on the dog,” said Leslie Sans, Executive Director for Dallas Pets Alive!

Cooper sat in the shelter waiting and waiting for his loving family to arrive, but no one came for him. After a month in the shelter, Cooper’s countdown clock was rapidly ticking towards zero.

“DAS gave him an end of date. If no one stepped up, they were going to euthanize him,” Sans said. “Luckily, we had a foster step up just in the nick of time.”

Cooper got out of the shelter, but he wasn’t out of the woods. His foster stint did not end well.

“The foster’s dog actually attacked him,” Sans explained.

Yikes! Now Cooper is in boarding which means lots of loud strange dogs around him every day.

“He’s a little shy, a little timid. But once he’s got that trust, he will love you forever,” Sans said.

So, now whether it’s fur-ever or just for now as a foster, anyone can help Cooper break out.
