CARROLLTON, Texas — To most of her fans, Brandi Maxiell is known as the star of VH1’s Basketball Wives. And yes, she’s actually a wife.

But off-camera, the Dallas native offers more than just a sassy-tude and fierce fashion tips. She’s a successful entrepreneur who’s currently celebrating the two-year anniversary of her flourishing business.

“I graduated from the University of North Texas, and so, with my business background, I just felt that it was just right to join with my mom,” Brandi told NewsFix.

The mommy-daughter duo teamed up and opened Midway Salon Suites in Carrollton. It’s a one-stop location where you can get a mani-pedi, massage, hair services and much more!

“Running a business with my mom, I thought it would be very difficult, but you know, it’s a bonding experience,” she added.

Brandi is a survivor who’s no stranger to life’s curve balls.

“I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer right after I graduated college. It was unexpected,” she explained. “No one in my family had it.”

She’s been cancer-free for seven years and has used her experience to encourage other cancer patients and survivors.

Brandi has also made it her goal to participate in the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Walk, “I love hearing other people’s stories. It brings back memories, and it just makes me thankful.”

Even she admits her newfound fame and fast track to success has attracted the haters, but that doesn’t stop Brandi from staying on top of her game.

“My main goal is to grow this business and get about two or three more [locations] within the next five years in the Dallas area.”

And for those of you just dying to know, “I’m still on Basketball Wives LA, and I’ll do that ’til the wheels fall off.”

Sounds like we’ll have to tune in for more of Mrs. Maxiell.
