WYLIE, TX -- Over the past few weeks Wylie has been inundated with storm after storm, each time having to start recovery over. Mentally they've been drowning but today, they finally had their chance to come up for air.

The water hasn't washed away their spirit at all. Wylie was ready to remove the tarps, clear the roads and get fast and furious.

Downtown Wylie was transformed into a race track for the 12th Annual Pedal Car Race. More than 100 children selected a distinctive car that has been provided and decorated by local merchants and race 500 inches down Ballard Avenue in heats of six. The kids raced out into the sun and brought some much needed excitement to their city.

Not only did it bring excitement but a part of the proceeds will benefit the local Special Olympics as well as the beautification of Wylie’s historic downtown.

And while we can’t guarantee any drifting in Wylie, we can assure you that the rain is gone and the drivers are ready to pedal their way to victory!

On your mark, get set........go!
