ADDISON, TX,-They say man’s best friend is his dog and if you’ve ever owned one, you know that’s true!

Perhaps no one knows it better than our friends at Operation Kindness, the original no kill shelter in North Texas.

They teamed up with the Addison Police Department for Rescue a Human Day.

“It’s kind of a little tongue and cheek for people who get a nice little cuddle break with a nice animal from their day, so instead of rescuing a dog they’re rescuing a human,” said Jim Hanophy, CEO of Operation Kindness.

But this time, it was the boys in blues’ turn to be rescued for a change.

“You’ve got some big tough officers that try not to ‘Oohh’ and ‘Aahh’ when they see a puppy, but they can’t help themselves,” said Hanophy.

But this event wasn’t exclusive to officers, dog and cat lovers were invited to take a break from the workday and enjoy some fur-therapy before returning to work refreshed!

Hey, one officer loved his pup so much he decided to take him home!

“This dog here was adopted by one of our lieutenants; he fell in love with this dog and that’s what I mean about officers bonding with dogs. It was love at first sight,” said Louise Cavillo of Operation Kindness.

Hey, they don’t call it puppy love for nothing.
