DALLAS -- It's a good old-fashioned cake off in North Dallas.

Remember when Sprinkles was the biggest thing in the world of cupcakes?  They were so popular, they decided to make their famous treats available 24/7 from a "Cupcake ATM."

Well, their new neighbor at Preston Center -- Carlo's Bake Shop, owned by Cake Boss Buddy Valastro -- still has folks lined up around the corner, almost two weeks after their huge grand opening.

"We were saying 'Everything's bigger in Texas.' Well, that includes the lines," Valastro told NewsFix at the event.

"It's cupcakes everywhere, here at Preston Center," said Lisa Norman, who's worked at a dance studio there for over a decade.

Yeah... And in a couple weeks, that sugar rush continues, as another challenger is entering the ring.  All the way from California, it's SusieCakes.

"We're so excited to be here," said Susan "Susie" Sarich. "I started the company ten years ago, with my grandmother's recipes from Chicago.  Texas was a natural fit for us, because of the strong sense of community, and the way the people like to celebrate here."

As for joining an already crowded baked goods neighborhood?

"I think we're going to set ourselves apart," Sarich said. "Due to the fact that we bake from real ingredients.  Butter, flour, sugar, eggs."

The question now is whether the area can support all those bakeries...

"I think it will," Norman said.  "Honestly this area's so big, and growing. The need is there."

But hey, if there's not enough business to go around, maybe we'll get to see a cake fight to the death!

"No, no, I don't think it's a rivalry," Sarich laughed. "I think it's a friendly competition."

Well, hey, when bakeries compete, we all win, right?
