FORT WORTH — There’s been an outpouring of national support for the LGBT community ever since the Orlando gay nightclub massacre. But there are some who have used the incident to reaffirm their beliefs against homosexuality.

Fort Worth Pastor Donnie Romero of Stedfast Baptist Church is one of those people, and he’s not shy about it.

Shortly after the shooting, Pastor Romero had this to say in a sermon, “You know what? Orlando is a little bit safer tonight.”

And it doesn’t stop there.

“The Bible says that they’re all worthy of death; they’re all predators,” Pastor Romero said in another video posted online. “This LGBTQ, it’s wicked.”

Pastor Romero cites Bible verses as support for his belief. “If any man also lies with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death, their blood shall be upon them. They shall surely be put to death. Why? Because it’s a capital offense,” Romero says.

He also voices support for fellow Pastor Roger Jimenez from California, who has also received criticism for praising the mass shooting.

“As Christians, we shouldn’t be mourning the deaths of these 50 sodomites,” Pastor Jimenez said. “You say, ‘Well, why is that?’ Here’s why that is: Because the Bible teaches,  these sodomites are all, every single one of them, a predator.”

NewsFix reached out to Fort Worth Pastor Romero, but we were not able to reach him. Either way, it doesn’t sound like he or other religious leaders are backing down anytime soon.
