DALLAS, TX --  Okay, by now you should know it’s never a good idea to defy the long arm of the law.

Yeah, remember the classic song, " I fought the law and the law won?"

Well, it appears someone might not have heard that song before. Case in point: one suspect who was cuffed overnight.

Dallas PD says it was just after 2:30 Saturday morning when some cops were working off-duty in the Uptown area of 2700 McKinney Ave. The cops saw a fight in a nearby parking lot and checked it out.

DPD says the officers, donning full uniforms and badges, approached the sparring suspects.

Can you guess what happened next?

  1. Suspect politely surrenders to cops?
  2. Suspect bolts from the scene and is later caught?
  3. Suspect punches the hell outta the cop?

Well, if you answered “3” -- you’re right!

DPD says a suspect swung at a cop and landed a few punches to the officer’s left eye. The cop fought back, not with his fists, but with his mace and taser.

The officer was able to subdue the feisty felon who was jailed and will now likely face charges.

Hey, looks like we’ve got another candidate for NewFix's Dumbass of the Day!
