SACRAMENTO, CA -- Most of us remember Nancy Reagan's message, "Just Say No to Drugs." But fast forward about 30 years and the message coming out of the White House is a little different.
"We still have federal laws that classify marijuana as an illegal substance," President Obama said. "But we're not gonna spend a lot of resources trying to turn back decisions on the state level on this issue."
Yeah, looks like the President is down with pot. Well, sort of. But now that weed prohibition is a hot topic in the U.S., other states are hoping to jump on the ganja bandwagon.
Not likely here in Texas though, folks. But legalization bills are budding up across the country.
So, let's take a little tour. We've got California. Hey, is wine and weed a wise idea?
Other states on the bud bandwagon -- Missouri, Nevada, and Arizona.
On the east coast, states like Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine are looking to say "yes" to marijuana. Hmmm... Ben & Jerry might profit if that happens.
It's too soon to tell if the bills will lead to legalization, but these states are willing to give it the good old college try.
With another presidential election around the corner, you can bet this issue will be lighting up.
