NICE, France — Multiple people are believed to have died, and others were injured when a driver slammed into a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France Thursday night.

“The driver of the truck seems to have left dozens dead,” according to Christian Estrosi, president of the Nice Cote d’Azur region.

Video shows revelers running in panic in the French beach town after the truck drove into a group of people watching fireworks in celebration of the country’s national holiday, according to witnesses.

A photo from the scene shows a white truck with its windshield riddled by bullet holes, surrounded by armed officers, according to local newspaper Nice Matin.
