GRAND PRAIRIE -- The missing Grand Prairie teen believed to be with her teacher has been found.

Grand Prairie police, working with U.S. Marshals and Richardson police, found former Grand Prairie High School teacher Michael Perez with 16-year-old Amy Botton at a Richardson motel.

Perez is in custody in Richardson and is charged with Harboring a Runaway.

Amy Botton is being interviewed by detectives; it is not yet known if Perez will face additional charges. The teen will be released to her parents.

Perez was a math teacher at Grand Prairie High School until Thursday morning, when the school found out the 25-year-old may be having an improper relationship with 16-year-old Botton.

“If true, this is a reprehensible violation of an educator’s responsibility to students.  Betraying a child’s trust is outrageous,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Susan Hull said. “We urge law enforcement to take the strongest possible action as soon as possible.”
