DALLAS — The Mavs are gearing up for their first round battle with the Houston Rockets, but don’t expect head coach Rick Carlisle to care too much about going up against the in-state rivals.
“We’re getting ready to play an NBA playoff series,” said the coach on Friday. “We’re not looking at this like some big emotional clash. This is basketball, this is competing and that’s what we’re going to make it about.”
Well, the rivalry’s focal point may be Chandler Parsons who jumped from Houston to Dallas last summer. Going into the post-season Parsons has been hobbled by an injured right knee that has kept him out of the last six games. He says he’s ready to go, though.
“Definitely made a lot of process from the last couple of days till now,” said the Mavs starting small forward. “Hopefully no setback between now and the game tomorrow but if all goes well I should play.”
The playoffs tip-off Saturday night at 8:30 in Houston.
