DALLAS -- From glam tips to job opportunities, the Annual Mary Kay Convention has been painting Dallas pink for the past week. But the cosmetic company’s foundation runs deeper than beauty products.
Mary Kay's Vice-President Anne Crews says they have a “long-standing commitment to prevent and end domestic violence.”
The seminar agenda includes providing confidence to the women out there that needs it the most.
“Mary Kay care kits include lip balm moisturizer, body lotion, body wash, essentials for women who sometimes flee violence at home with just the clothes on their back,” Crews explained.
In assembly line fashion, volunteers stuffed 2,000 of these care kits to ship off to domestic violence shelters. 100 of them will go to the Family Place Shelter right here in Dallas.
For the past 15 years, Mary Kay has given $50 million to domestic violence prevention and awareness programs.
“I'm so proud to be a part of a company that gives back,” Senior Sales director Leigh Ann David said. “We have several women that are a part of the 1 in 4 that are survivors of domestic violence. So, it's a cause that hits really close to our heart.”
And for the finishing touch, the care kits were sent off with a special keepsake.
“We're writing inspirational love notes to go out to each woman, to let each of them know that they're really important,” sales director Chelsea Colbert added.
It’s definitely the makeup behind Mary Kay that reflects her true beauty.
