KELLER — So we’ve all posted something on social media we wish we could take back, right? Well one local lady is finding that isn’t so easy.

Jo Lynn Haussmann, a recently elected Keller ISD trustee, decided to post this on her Facebook page: “So few voters took the time and responsibility to vote in the municipal election – You now have a “Muslim” on the city council! What a shame!”

That “Muslim” is Dr. Shahid Shafi, a successful surgeon, who was recently elected to the Southlake City Council. In a statement on his Facebook page, Dr. Shafi said “Ms. Haussmann’s comments are unfortunate, and she called me today to apologize. However, it’s up to the citizens of Keller ISD to decide their response.”

Haussmann also apologized on her campaign’s Facebook page saying she was “sorry for the hurt I have caused”. That page has since been deleted.

Still, this isn’t Haussmann’s first brush with online controversy. Back in 2012 she posted similar comments on YouTube saying, “I’d rather have a Mormon with high morals than a Muslim!”

Hey folks, another good reminder that the Internet is forever.
