BASTROP, Texas–Remember that military takeover that started in Texas back in June?

Yeah, Operation Jade Helm 15. The one that had troops turning on American citizens.

It had some people so stirred up that when a Walmart in Livingston closed because of a plumbing problem, some people believed it was part of the takeover conspiracy.

“Oh lord, I`m not going to say anything about the government. I`ll be gone tomorrow,” Livingston resident Joe Ann Mintry said at the time.

Well, there really was a Jade Helm, a military exercise across seven states with terrain closest to what troops would find in the Middle East.

Things seemed pretty quiet in Bastrop County when Jade Helm started.

But so many people were worried, Governor Abbott actually ordered the Texas State Guard to keep an eye on the federal operation.

So Tuesday was the final day of Jade Helm 15. So far, there’s no takeover.

What have we learned from all of this? Maybe that old song was right.

“Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.”
