DALLAS—These days, there’s negative stories about men all over the place.
Well, these men are in the spotlight for a good reason.
“God has really done some great things here,” The Potter’s House Young Adult and E-Church Pastor Onterio Green said. “They’re being empowered, they’re being changed.”
“It’s important because it allows individual groups to be set aside from what can distract them and to hear that message as they should hear it,” Jaylen Bledsoe, who was featured on the T.D. Jakes show said.
We’re talking about ManPower. It’s all a part of Bishop T.D. Jakes’ MegaFest. And it’s not just about the men, down the street at the AAC, tons of women came together for Girl Talk with keynote speakers like mother/daughter duo, Serita and Sarah Jakes, and Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles Lawson was on the all-star panel.
Throughout the hustle and bustle, men back at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center took time to pray and be encouraged.
“I’m excited about, being a young adult pastor, is we’ve got a lot of millennials represented here,” Green added. “Almost 40% of our registration this year is young adults. So that means these young men are being empowered, they’re being shown how to be fathers and husbands.”
“This my baby girl,” Victor Allen said holding his 9-month old. “This is manpower in motion, so she is revelation and evidence of what we came here for to learn how to be better men and better fathers,” he smiled. “ManPower has been very impactful. First you learn how to be a better son of God, and in turn, you learn how to be a better husband, a better father, a better man in general. It’s very encouraging for the young men to see men who are doing positive things in the community. Just learning how to conduct themselves. We teach our children how to respect authority. There are a lot of negative things going on but our God is great, so we stay positive and stay encouraged.”
