AUSTIN, TX -- Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has been elected the state's first new governor in 14 years.
Abbott cruised to a comfortable win over Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis. Early results put Abbott with 58% to Davis' 41%.
Thank you Texas for electing me Governor. With honor and dignity I will fight for you and your future. God Bless Texas.

Davis gained national attention after leading a dramatic filibuster -- all while wearing pink sneakers -- that blocked a Republican-backed abortion bill.
But the spark fizzled while Davis stumped for votes. Critics have called her uninspiring and flat.
