DALLAS —Comic Con has invaded Dallas! This “Nerd-vana” for sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and comic die-hards is always a sight to behold, but the nerd culture is finally getting a much needed makeover!

“Girl power is becoming more so common in movies and with superhero movies and just in general pop culture!” said LeeAnna Vamp, a professional cosplayer.

Yep, “geekdom” is finally getting in touch with its Bad-A feminine side!

“They did the female Thor, so they`re bringing things in but they could do more.” Karli Woods, operator of, pointed out.

Yeah, “Captain Marvel” will be hitting the silver screen in 2018, and “Supergirl” is getting her own TV show this fall, but sometimes it still has a ways to go.

“You have the guys that stop by and ask you, 'tell me five things about Harley Quinn' or 'are you really a fan’?” said Mika Nicole, another professional cosplayer, “They kind of quiz you, that still happens, it`s really irritating.”

So yeah, not perfect yet, but the times are a changing, and the comic book world is literally giving some girls their voice.

“When I was little I had a speech problem and I didn`t really enjoy the books that they were giving me to read” said young cosplayer Reese Avery Kirkham, “So my speech teacher told me to go into comics.”

“I think my first comic was 'Spidergirl' and I just loved how everyone knows Spider-Man and Superman but no one really knows all of the girl parts and I really loved seeing all those powerful women.”

So keep on geeking it up, because right now the hottest super power on the block, is girl power!
