Fort Worth Police Captain Arrested After Off-Duty Crash

FORT WORTH — A Fort Worth police captain has been arrested after a 2 a.m. crash in Hurst. Capt. Daniel R. Humphries is facing a charge of intoxication assault with a vehicle/serious bodily injury after hitting another car and inuring the driver.

Hurst police say Humphries was driving his city-owned black Chevrolet Tahoe when he hit a sedan, trapping the driver inside. Firefighters extricated the driver, who was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Humphries was arrested at the scene on suspicion of intoxication assault and taken to jail in Euless, due to construction at the Hurst jail.

Humphries joined the FWPD in 1992 and is now on restricted duty as internal affairs investigates.
