FORT WORTH -- A nightmare situation finally has closure for some North Texas families. Dondre Johnson was convicted on two counts of felony theft Wednesday after a jury decided he took money from bereaved families and then let the bodies of their loved ones decompose in his funeral home.

Johnson and his wife Rachel, who is scheduled to face trial on the same charges later this month, operated the mortuary until July of 2014. Rachel is currently in a federal prison after being arrested for food stamp fraud.

Dondre Johnson now faces up to two years behind bars. Unlike the loved ones who were apparently left to rot, it looks like this tragedy will soon be put to rest.

The punishment phase of the trial continues Thursday.
