DALLAS -- Around 11 pm Wednesday night, passengers on American Airlines flight 438 DFW to Seattle says it looked like flames were coming from an engine.

"We heard a huge loud boom and I looked and saw sparks flying from the side," one passenger explained.

According to AA it was just a compressor backfire that started minutes after take off.  That backfire was more than enough to turn back around for an emergency landing at DFW airport.

Thankfully, no one was hurt and passengers were booked into hotels put on the next available flights to Seattle.
