NEW YORK — It was a final farewell to a fallen hero. Officers from New York and Texas joined forces Monday morning to salute the life of David Hofer. The 29-year-old was killed in the line of duty last week in Euless when he and three other cops were ambushed in a city park.
His  funeral was held at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York where he started his career as a cop. Hofer spent five years with NYPD’s ninth precinct — before moving to Texas.
NYPDÂ live tweeted the service sharing nothing but kind words and condolences for their fallen comrade.

Over the weekend, family, friends and the community gathered at Pennington Field here in Texas for Hofer’s memorial service. Instead of his tragic death, his fiancee, Marta Danylyk, paid tribute to his life and legacy.
“I am proud of you. It is my absolute honor and privilege to be the one you loved,” Danylyk said. “I love you times infinity plus one, as you competitively would say.”
