Remember this: whenever you drop spare change in those red Salvation Army kettles you`re doing more than putting a smile on the bell ringer`s face, you`re also helping fill the tummies of hundreds of needy families throughout DFW.

“We are preparing for 1500 guests to be here and share a Christmas meal,” explained Director of Operations, Blake Fetterman.

That`s right!  That spare change will put smiles on each and every one’s faces at the Carr P. Collins Social Service Center in Dallas.

The staff also works overtime, prepping and cooking, for the last big supper of the year.

"The kitchen staff are busy carving a thousand turkeys and prepping 500 lbs of mash potatoes, green beans sweet potatoes and cutting 225 pies..." added Fetterman.

Head chef, Modesto Robledo, says when prepping for holiday meals time is something he takes very seriously...

“It takes a whole week to have everything ready,” said Robledo. “There`s no questions asked!”

Yeah and there's no question about this either: your spare change can go a long way!
