DALLAS -- He's already helped the Dallas Cowboys jump to a 5-1 start this season, and now rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott is helping another local organization - the SPCA of Texas.

Zeke visited the Dallas animal shelter Monday with his dog Ace.

"I've had dogs ever since I was growing up," Elliott said.  "I didn't really have a choice but to love 'em."

But Elliott brought more than just star power.  He also helped folks clear one of the hurdles of adoption by making the fee just $21!

"I'm excited for some pets to find some new families," said Zeke. "And some people to find some new best friends."

And for a few lucky families, their new best friend came with a surprise visit from the 'Boys' RB, who also donated a signed jersey and a check for $10,000.

"Every animal leaving today means that we can save a life tomorrow," said James Bias, president and CEO of the SPCA of Texas.  "And for him to step up and take a lead role in encouraging adoption, that's gonna make a big difference for these animals that we deal with - it's gonna make a big difference for the community."
