When the pup with vigor running
enjoys life with coat that's stunning
is deemed to have way too much funning
and is left at shelter's door...

Quoth Edgar Allan Paw:

"Nevermore."

"Edgar Allan Paw is similar to Edgar Allan Poe only in their darkness," said Dallas Pets Alive! Marketing Director Holly Morgan. "Edgar Allan Paw is a tricolor, but he's mostly black. Edgar Allan Poe was pretty dark."

That may not be the only similarity between the worrisome wordsmith and this playful pooch. A longing for love is a common theme.

Just like his namesake, though, Edgar the dog has been unlucky in love.

"He may have been too much for someone," Morgan said. "He requires, or really, prefers to have a lot of time to run."

Running not from ravens speaking
or from boards in floors still creaking
or from creepy things just creeping
outside his chamber door.

Instead...

Chasing balls and leaping
with the family he's been seeking
a group of loved ones gladly keeping
a spot for him forevermore.

"He would be great to put into some agility training because he loves it," Morgan said. "He jumps really high. He runs a lot."

So Edgar's dreaming of his new home
where he can say he's no more on loan
and while chewing on a new bone
answer, "Back to the shelter?"

"Nevermore."
