FRISCO -- It became more mysterious than the video tape that never surfaced. We’re talking about the MRI of Dez Bryant's knee that he injured Sunday night against the Bears.

Since then, fans have been anxiously awaiting the results. And on Wednesday, the news wasn't good. According to Jason Garrett, Dez has a hairline fracture in his right knee. The good news -- he won't need surgery!

The team is holding out hope that he can still play against the 49ers on Sunday.

The worst case scenario is that Dez is out for three weeks, which would mean that the Cowboys would be without Bryant for pivotal matchups against the Bengals and Packers.

The Cowboys were in similar situation last year when both Dez and Tony Romo were out for stretches of the season. Now, the team may have to rely even more on rookie sensations Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott.

Fans can only hope that the loss of the two highest paid players on the roster doesn't result in another lost season.
