DESOTO, TX -- It wasn't how a DeSoto family planned on spending their holiday weekend; mourning the loss of their teen son.

Cops say 14-year-old Damien Blade was found in a storm drain early Monday morning. The teen was reported missing on Sunday.

DPD says Damien was last seen with two of his dogs on Sunday afternoon. Cops say the teen liked to explore culverts and storm drains.

Police began searching for Damien, after one of his dogs returned home, without the boy. The dog was reportedly wet and 'extremely muddy.'

"The DeSoto police informed us that they were looking for a 14-year-old who had last been seen with two dogs," Rhonda Howard explained. Howard lived near the teen.

"He informed us one of the dogs came home, by himself, without the young man."

Officers searched with their K-9 units, and located Damien, and one of his dogs, inside a drain in the 800 block of Terrace Drive. It's believed Damien drowned; his case is still under investigation.

"Our hearts go out to the family as well," neighbor Eric Williams said. "It's got to be devastating for them. You do everything you can for your kids - you want their safety and well being. This has to be very, very painful."
