DALLAS -- Ever wondered what it would be like if social media didn't exist?

No really, think about it.

Every time there`s breaking news you can log on to Twitter or Facebook to get a play-by-play of the action straight from witnesses at the scene.

The Dallas PD attack was plastered all over Twitter as cops tweeted out every developing detail.

Dallas police kept the Twitter universe updated with pictures and tweets on suspect James Boulware's status.

And then there are those social savvy street journalists. You know, the ones who are quick to pull out their phones and roll on the action.

Check out this video from a user who was caught in the middle of the shootout.

It's a good thing these people are ready to record because their video often proves helpful during investigations.

Yeah, can you say McKinney pool party?

But, with social media comes the social part of it and statuses that might not click with your opinions.

We found tons of polarizing posts with #DallasPDShooting.

In either event,  whether it’s Facebook stalking or Twitter talking, there's no doubting the power behind social media!
