DALLAS — Last year we showed you some of the wildest Cowboys fans out there, and now we’re back with more Crazy Cowboys Fans!

Gregg Wilson is one of the most recognizable fans out at AT&T Stadium, with his trademark, giant Wreckin’ Ball helmet, that’s also been seen out at Globe Life Park, at Super Bowls and has even lead to the launch of a whole line of Wreckin Ball helmet merchandise!

But what’s the backstory on the whole helmet thing?

“It goes back to when I was in the military, so back in the mid-90’s I was posted to a helicopter squadron and one time there was a barbecue and this guy wears a helmet to the barbecue and he got all the attention,” recounted Wilson. “We all got jealous so the very next week we all decided we’re not going to let him have all that fun, so we all wore it. Sure enough the first guy paints his red, we we’re all still bowing down to his attention. The third week it was on, we all showed up with different designs, different patterns, we had a blast.”

When he moved back down to Big D, he took the idea that had been so much fun then and “rolled” with it for sports.

“You’re not going to buy several two-thousand dollar helicopter helmets, so I had to reinvent the wheel, or in this case the ball,” laughed Wilson.
