SANGER, TX — Our story starts with 84. It’s Blake Pyron’s specialty snow cone, and you know there’s a story behind it.

“His big brother was No. 84, and like any brothers, he wants to be just like his big brother,” said his mother, Mary Ann Pyron.

Safe to say he hasn’t hurt the family number. Blake was football captain, he was prom king, and now, at just 20 years old, he’s the first business owner in Texas history with Down Syndrome, opening Blake’s Snow Shack in Sanger.

“Society says Blake shouldn’t have a job, and we say, ‘Why not?’” Mary Ann Pyron said.

He doesn’t just have a job. This cat is the boss!

By the way, his employees love him.

“He’s never upset, and he’s always happy and always has a smile,” said employee and neighbor Tanner Maples.

Employee and cousin Zach Bowles added, “I think just the way he always knows every person that comes in. It’s almost like there’s no one here he doesn’t know.”

Blake keeps us lighthearted with his attitude and cooled off with his cones, but he’s changing the world too…and that’s no exaggeration.

“The National Down Syndrome Society is actually setting up a scholarship in Blake’s name,” his mother said. “We’ll be awarding that next year to another person that wants to open their own business.”

And the first lesson from the master is one about customer service!
